Therapy for Trauma and Complex PTSD

You are so tired of the anxiety, the stress, the panic and irritability

You just don’t feel like yourself anymore, and the people around you are noticing it too. Things bother you and you have no idea why - it could be a sound, a smell, or the tone of someone’s voice, and you just go into panic or fight mode. To compensate, you are constantly be on edge, waiting for the next earthquake.

You take care of most things on your own, but sometimes it feels like you feel like you can’t rely on anyone, and the idea of asking for help just makes you feel like a burden. You want to hold on to all the things, and it feels like things are slipping through your fingers. Your mind has been spinning, and it seems like your relationships are out of control, your body hurts and it seems like all the ways you have been “coping” (like the drinking, the pot, the food, the relationships) are becoming more and more problematic.

Is it worth going back to therapy again?

Maybe you aren’t sure what happened to you, or maybe there are some things that you feel too bad about to say out loud. Or maybe you are telling yourself nothing was that bad. But you know you can’t go on like this, and you wonder if it might help to sort out some of the confusing thoughts and memories if you had someone you could trust and lean on.

You don’t need to hold your trauma alone.

My clients see changes happen over time as they start to understand how their experiences shaped them, appreciate how they protected themselves, and bravely take some steps to do things a bit differently. With therapy we can see relationships stabilize, emotions feel less chaotic and reactive, self worth improve, and foster a sense of relaxed control in life. The world starts looking like a safer place.

I am ready to listen to your hard stories, while creating a safe space so you can find ways to retell your story and find some peace with the past. I believe consistency helps build connection, trust and results so we meet weekly with our clients. I use EMDR and talk a lot about your nervous system so we can begin to see old responses in new ways. Because we hold trauma in our body, we may use movement and somatic techniques to help you heal in ways that talking alone can’t.  We are in it together every step of the way and I’m supporting and questioning, explaining, laughing.

If you are ready to stop handling things alone and are tired of feeling like being overwhelmed is your natural state of being, contact us for a free 15 minute consultation to learn how therapy this time around can make a difference in finding a sense of peace and hope for a more fulfilling life.
